FAQ

Where are you located?

Dance Heels Up hire venues to host our dance classes. We are currently operating out of Monash University in Frankston. You can find further studio information here.

Can I start anytime?

We offer short intro courses and casual classes. The casual class timetable allows you to drop-in to a class when it suits you. No lock-ins or contracts. Simply click here book online, and arrive to class - anytime!

Am I too young for classes?

Dance Heels Up is an adults only dance school for women. We welcome students aged 18yrs+. Some classes are open to 16yrs+ and require parental consent to participate. Please contact our team for further information info@dancehu.com

Am I too old for classes?

We get asked this question WAY TOO MUCH. You are never too old for classes, or anything your heart would like to try. Some students are  in their 40s and 50s. Don't let your age stop you from starting!

Are there lock-in contracts?

Dance Heels Up do not have any lock-in contracts. We do offer intro courses that run for a duration of 5 weeks, and also offer class bundles. Most classes are casual, so you drop-in when it suits and pay as you go. Click here for our current timetable.

How do I try a class?

We don't offer free trials as our schedule is mostly casual, so you can drop-in anytime and try a class. Single sessions are $22 or we have a 3 for $49 pass for new students available. You can purchase a pass here then schedule in for a class.

I've never danced before...

Dance Heels Up is suitable for women of all fitness levels, dance experience and ability (that includes no experience at all). We offer beginner classes and have a huge focus on having fun and feeling the feminine energy in the room.

What do I wear?

We recommend wearing clothing that you are comfortable wearing, that allows free movement. Avoid clothes that are tight, restrict movement or may become to hot once you start moving.

What heels do I wear?

Avoid wedges and platforms. We recommend stiletto heels no higher than 3.5inchs for beginners. The sole should be somewhat flexible, and there should be a strap across the ankle for support. We recommend open toe stiletto boot heels.

Any classes without heels?

Students are welcome to attend any high heels class and opt to wear flat shoes. We do have classes which are performed in sneakers if you're not a fan of dancing in heels. Try out our Twerk or Hip Hop Femme class. Check the schedule here.

What is an intro course?

Our intro to dance courses are for absolute beginners. They are designed to get you started, build technique and grow confidence. The courses run for a period of 5 weeks and are slow-paced. This is a great place to start, and meet friends to attend casual classes in the future together. Find out more here.

Do you do private lessons?

If our timetable doesn't fit your schedule, or perhaps you'd like to build confidence privately before attending a casual class - a 1-on-1 lesson may be for you. Come to us, or we can hire a studio close to you. Private lessons are $100 per hour, or 3 for $300. Email info@dancehu.com to book.

Do you do hens parties?

Absolutely! We have been running dancing hens events for 5 years and know how to get the party started. If you would like to shake up your hens with some twerk, heels or hip hop check out our packages here.

Are all classes filmed?

Yes - all of our classes are filmed by staff. We will film the class in progress, and full group performances. Students who are confident and comfortable are welcome/invited to perform and be filmed in smaller groups.

Where to find class footage?

All footage will be uploaded to a drop-box folder after class. A drop-box link will be emailed to all participants who have registered for the class. If you have not registered, you will not recieve the link.
